A series of unfortunate events

Well folks, we would love to be sending you this from Prospector’s RV Park in Canon City, but due to an unfortunate misunderstanding we are not.   As you all know by now, we did not enjoy the first campground we were working for this summer, so we left to what we thought was going to be a great campground and long term assignment.  After receiving our first paycheck we thought there was an error as they took out 32 hours a week for rent for our campsite, as we were understanding it to be 16 hours a week per couple not per person.  Well we did the math and the amount that we were going to pay for our site each month was going to be a whopping $1,000!!!!    That was just not going to fly. We were not able to work out anything with the management so we decided it was best to move on and out!  If you just pulled in off the street and wanted to stay there for a month it is only $300 yet they thought it was fine to charge their workers $1000.
Currently we are staying with our friends, Chris and Carrie Haze in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They have a few acres of  land, with lots of room for the RV!  We have all ready landed a new job, we will be working for Columbine Cabins, 30 miles North of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The elevation is 8700 feet, if anybody knows how to start growing a 3rd lung, now would be the time to tell us how!   This is an old ghost town and they have taken some of the existing buildings and turned them into cabin rentals, they have 14 in all, plus a general store, and no RV park.  We have plans to arrive there sometime between May 15-20, as long as all is the snow is melted, currently our site is still under snow, so we hope they start having some mild weather soon.  This place is really out in the boonies, I think it will be more isolated then our Upper Peninsula experience we had 2 years ago. There is no TV or cable, and we can maybe use our cell phones 1 mile down the road. We actually had to go out and buy a telephone and cables for a land line, it has been years since we have had dial up internet. I guess the saying 3rd times a charm is going to apply to us this year!
Hope everyone is having a great spring!  Here are some photos of our time spent in the Canon City area.  Be sure to check our Fotki web site mnraaron photos for many more photos!
No matter where we may end up, there will be new roads to explore and new adventures to experience! Happy trails!
