Hello to all. We have created a new blog Off The Beaten Path. It is a way for us to show everyone where we have been exploring lately. The blogs will have a map of the route we followed and links to pictures and comments we have about the route. Our goal is to update the new blog more frequently then our main blog, we will still keep our blog and update it a few times a year with major moves and such.
We hope everyone will check out the new blog and enjoy sharing our explorations.

Visiting friends along the way and adventures in South East Arizona

Having never spend any time in South East Arizona,

as we are always on the way to somewhere else, so when a posting came up for a winter job in Willcox, Arizona we applied for it while we were in Kentucky and got the job a few days later, even though our arrival date would be in 3 weeks! When we left Kentucky in January we had a few stops to make along the way. Our first stop was in Alabama to see our friends Mark & Earlene Miller who we had not seen in 17 years, and then off to South Carolina to another friend Carl Cheezum who use to work with Rich when we lived in Colorado Springs, and then our last stop in Texas to visit our workamping friends Leeann and CD whom we met back in 2009.

We arrived at Lifestyle RV Resort in Willcox, Arizona in early February and we have had several outlying areas to explore while we have been here. We have had many adventures on some back country roads where the only thing you see for miles is cows, border patrol agents or just nobody at all! Our summer travels will take us Hill City, South Dakota where we will be working at Horse Creek Resort, our arrival there will be early May, and will stay until the end of September. Wishing everyone a wonderful spring and happy adventures!

Goodbye 2011 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where did 2011 go?

It has been a busy year, amazing we have not posted in a blog in over a year! The Texas 2 year step from our last blog, well the dance was cancelled early due to the amazing drama of immature adults acting like children. Some of you know our story, so we will not post the details of our departure.

We had a busy summer at Jellystone until we left in August and met several great people over the summer, for the most part people are good, but it is amazing what a few bad apples can do. We left in late August and took a few weeks’ vacation at a State Park. While we were at the park, we got a call from Ohio letting us know how sick Marnie’s mom was, so we headed north to Ohio. We were there 5 days and we were able to spend time with her until she passed away on September 1st.

We stayed in Ohio until early November helping Marnie’s dad move into a new apartment and getting him settled in. We did not have any plans for the winter, so we decided to head South to Kentucky where we are working for Amazon.com for the holiday season. Amazon hires over 600 workampers for this busy season, we are going to stay on until the end of January, as they needed some people to stay on for the clean up after the holiday season, meaning we will be doing inventory until the end of January.

We hope everyone had a great 2011, and wishing everyone the best for the New Year!

Texas 2 year step!

Greetings  from the country of Texas, oops we mean the greetings  from the state of Texas!  We arrived in Texas October 8th and spent about 5 days down in the Big Bend National Park area, we stayed in Alpine, TX at the Lost Alaskan RV Park.  If you are looking for Alaska, you sure would be lost if that is were you ended up!  It really is amazing just how big this state is, we will be here for the next 2 years, and probably won’t see it all!
We arrived at Jellystone Hill Country RV Resort and Campground October 13th and our official job will be managers for the park.   This is the same campground that we worked at from December 2008 – September of 2009.  Time sure does fly by as it seems we have done so much in just the a little over a month that we have been here!  We are looking forward to working with Kim and Larry and all the others here to make sure customers have a happy and fun camping experience.  On November 8th we actually got on an airplane, and  flew from Austin to Cincinnati for the Jellystone Symposium, we met the Jones family there as they had left a week earlier and drove to Cincinnati.  We got to meet several other Jellystone  campground owners along with the corporate staff  from LSI, they as they are  are the corporation  behind Jellystone.  It was a very good learning experience,  and  also got to see all the new fun products coming out that will be for sale in our store this summer.  With not much time to goof off, we did get to do one geocache before heading out to airport the morning of our departure.
Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving, if you are ever headed to Texas, we are located in  between Austin and San Antonio,  which is in the Hill Country area of Texas, we would sure love to see you!  Before you know we will have an accent and y’all will be part of daily vocabulary!
